Phuket – General Motors (Thailand) and Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) are supporting the Miss Thailand World (MTW) 2010 national beauty pageant by giving away its top-of-mind sport utility vehicle (SUV) – the Chevrolet Captiva – as the grand prize for this year’s winner. Chevrolet Captiva SUVs are the official transportations for the 30 MTW contestants on their social activity engagements in the southern island city of Phuket.
As one of the main sponsors for this year’s contest, GM views Miss Thailand World stage as an important venue where modern Thai women can demonstrate their capabilities and express their opinions on today’s society as well as participate in social activities, especially in the area of education, which is in line with GM’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
“We are proud to be part of the Miss Thailand World event by supporting the contestants’ activities and realizing the dream of one of these Thai ladies. GM sees MTW not only as a vital beauty competition stage, but also as a place to ignite friendships and care for society,” said Mrs Sasinan Allmand, PR Director for GM Thailand and Southeast Asia.
Internally, GM also supports the existence of the GM Women Council, which was founded by GM’s women employees to help develop and retain women in the GM organization and to leverage GM female employees’ potential and knowledge to enable them to excel in their career by focusing on leadership, passion, professionalism and product & industry knowledge. The company’s participation in Miss Thailand World contest consolidates the foundation for GM’s mission to inspire and empower women.
The MTW activities in Phuket are also greatly supported by VST Auto Sales (2002), Chevrolet’s authorized dealer in Phuket, Pang-Nga and Krabi provinces, by facilitating transportation for the contestants to march around Phuket Island as well as joining in social activities such as painting schools, story-telling to children, repairing school buildings’ roofs and sightseeing the world’s renowned tourist attractions on the island.
